Dennis Jones - Director

Born Napier 1951, Educated in Auckland, [May Road Primary, Mt Roskill Intermediate, Lynfield College]

Originally worked in the Packaging Industry [BJ Snell Ltd, Packaging House Ltd] moved to Road Transport in 1978 and remained there until 1998. [DA Jones Transport, Whiteline Freighters, Coolfreight, Direct Transport, D&J Freighters, Roadfreighters].

Introduced to computers in the Army, started using computers as a business tool in 1978, 8 bit cpm and mono screens etc. 1979 started developing my own software to manage my transport business [dbase and Q&A].

Sold our Road Transport Business in 1996 to Roadfreighters, but remained in the industry with them until 1998, when it dawned on me that there had to be another path i could choose, instead of banging my head against a brick wall every day.

Computer support was a natural progression, as i had effectively been using computers as a business tool for some 20 years at that stage. The head banging is still there, it just doesnt hurt as much.

Have been involved in various service organisations since youth [Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Cub Leader, and lately the Rotary Club of Frankton] -

Served in the territorial army for a few years [about 1974 thru 78 at a guess, became the survey sargent for IIa Battery 16FD Regiment]

Interests Sailing, Sailing and more Sailing. My goal is to retire to a life of ocean walloping.
